Lainee's 8th Birthday!

I must start out saying - I can't believe I have an 8 year old!
They day started out with just us girls & Lainee was sure that I had an early present for her to open before getting ready for school. She was right, just like she said "You always give me a birthday outfit!"

So... Here she is in her birthday outfit!
We decided to have a friend party at the Main Street splash pad. As my life goes, the actual splash pad was closed down for repairs! But the stream part was still running so it worked out fine. They had a ton of fun, she opened presents, & had cake. Trent & Rigby even made it back from hunting to come to the party.
After the friend party we went home & had family over. Grandma & Grandpa Moss came over - they gave her the sweater she is wearing, Jana & Megan came too. We also had a few other visitors, Brad Jennie & kids, & Brett, to see the deer! Grandma & Grandpa Wilson showed up later with Julie, Maisey, & Branston.
Her big present was the bike. She definitely out grew her old bike that now gets passed down to Olivia (now we just need to teach Olivia to ride a bike!)
Lainee opened the front door to find the bike but didn't believe that it was for her! It was cute! Now the next big step! October 10th is her baptism! Which she is sooooo excited for! She had her Bishop's interview on Sunday so now its just a waiting game!

Muzzleloader Hunt 9/24/09

Trent drew out this year for the muzzleloader hunt. He decided to start hunting on opening morning, which fell on Wednesday the 23rd. He hunted that day out by Hatch with my Dad serving as a hunting guide! He saw some deer, missed one of them & returned back to the cabin to stay the night. We were hoping that he would get a deer so he would be home for Lainee's 8th birthday the next day. But he didn't.

So day 2 of the hunt, Lainee's birthday, he went out to Big Hill, which is by Hatch but not the same place he hunted the day before. He called me to tell me that he had missed another deer & he was SO mad that he did! It was a 60 yard shot on the run & did I mention that he was mad that he missed? Trent was ready to stop hunting & head back to the cabin but my Dad kept him going. They drove around Big Hill for a while & then Trent spotted a deer laying 15 feet away from the truck & knew it was injured so he also knew that he didn't actually miss at all! He got out & the deer got up & jumped the fence so he shot & dropped it! Trent tells the story alot better than I do but I majorly shortened it for your reading benefit!

Rigby got to go up to the cabin with Trent on a "boys trip" & he hung out with Grandma Wilson while the big boys hunted. Rigby said that the girls couldn't come because it was only for boys - its not a girlish thing! They got to come home just in time for Lainee's birthday party that afternoon.

I also need to mention that we packaged the deer ourselves! About 80 steaks & 17 lbs of hamburger! That was nasty! And just a few days earlier, I bottled 41 pints of chicken! I feel so domestic! Oh I should of taken pictures of all that too! Anyways, thanks to our outfitters - Richard & Carolyn Wilson for the accomadations, food & private guide - oh lets not forget babysitter! New post from the rest of the day to come soon!

Nice job Trent!

Trent sent this picture message to me saying "I guess I didn't miss!"

And now Rigby is done with the deer & moving on to cooler things like sticks!

Rigby got to play on Grandpa Wilson's tractor!

And he got to go on the 4wheeler & water the fields!

DMB

I just need to say that my husband is AWESOME!
He was going to surprise me with "dinner" in SLC midweek without kids. I didn't know what he was really up to... UNTIL we had all the kids with Grandma Moss & were heading out the door to catch our flight... WHEN the phone rang & they said that the
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND
concert was cancelled that we were going to be going to! Talk about a bummer! But nonetheless, very sweet of him! He surprised me 8 years ago with tickets to DMB when I was huge prego with Lainee. Now we wait to see if it actually gets rescheduled! Apparently this is the second year in a row of having DMB cancel in SLC! The concert 8 years ago was awesome! And I am SO excited for when it gets rescheduled! Hopefully not on a day that we can't go!

UPDATE: Just found out that they are NOT rescheduling the show! Are you kidding me?!! Uugghh! Thanks alot DAVE!
Props to Trent for trying though!

Haircuts & first day of school

In preparation for school, the girls & I headed over to Angie's salon to get haircuts. Olivia was supposed to be getting only a trim but she had a chop in mind instead!

Lainee wanted to keep it long so she went with a trim & long layers to let her natural curl show.

Don't they look great! Such pretty girls! Angie is great! Thanks!
So they were ready for the first day of school.
Olivia started kindergarten with Miss Tobler.
Lainee started 2nd grade with Mrs. Pollock. We are so lucky to have such great teachers! The girls are very pleased & loving it already.
It's so nice to have both of them at school together & to be able to have each other to walk home with!

Summer fun 2009

We had our annual Richard & Carolyn Wilson Family Reunion over the 24th weekend in July. We did the parade in Panguitch which Darth Vader was in and of course we couldn't have an official reunion without races! So the kids ran their races & played some games. Those were the only pictures that I took of the weekend but it was a fun & relaxing weekend.

For Jana's birthday, some of us adults hiked Angels Landing up in Zion. It was Dave, Tamara, Jana, Chanieca & me who were able to go. It was alot more work than I remembered from 15 years ago! Plus it didn't help that we went right after my 3 mile run! But good times & great views were had! Thanks Jana for getting us out!

Lainee had been begging all summer long to have a lemonade stand to which I did not want to do! BUT her dad was more supportive and told her she could do it! And of course, when the day came, he was gone to work, so it fell on mom to do! But he made sure to let us know that we would need a good sign & that we should sell some tomatoes too because we had way more than we needed.
So here they are at their stand! Cute!
And their first customer - and a return customer, was Adam Webb. The girls were sooo excited! I think they made a few dollars off the Webb family! Karin was so sweet & brought her kids over too!
These tomatoes represent about 1/10th of the tomatoes that we had! I feel so bad because a lot of them went to waste after I had made a huge batch of salsa & a million BLT sandwiches! Mmm, I'm getting hungry!
Lainee decided to write her own play & had her cousins be the performers at Grandma Moss' house. She is getting very creative!

Boys!

So as I laid in bed this morning, I heard Rigby run through my room to the family room to Olivia and say, "I put your destiny in this magic box!"

WHAT!?!

So I had to text it to Trent and this was his reply "Force him to watch ESPN!"

I'm not sure which was funnier!

Bryce Canyon Half Marathon & 5k 7/18/09

With Trent training for the marathon, he decided that he should do a half marathon & thought I should join him! Of course I knew better & went with the 5k! I really hated the run! It went out from the park down hill (slight, nothing compared to the down hill of the half!) which meant it was uphill all the way back! I kept saying to myself, "Why am I doing this? I am NEVER running again! There is no way I'll finish under 30 minutes! And I don't even care, just as long as I finish!" Finally as the end was in view, I saw the time clock ... 27.18!! What?!? No way! So that made it a lot better! I had run all by myself without a watch & had paced myself with a girl in front of me so I had no clue how I was doing. I took 5th in my age group & 20th overall. My pace was 8:47! I am pleased with that! And of course when Monday morning came around I got up & went running again! So much for NEVER again!

Ugly picture but proof that I did it!

Not long after I got through the half marathon runners started coming in. Trent was planning on finishing around 1:45. So we went to the finish line and here comes Trent finishing in 1:37! Awesome! He looked great! He finished 20th in his age group & 92nd overall! There were a lot more runners for the half marathon than the 5k! His overall pace was 7:26! I am so proud of him!

What a strong finish! Nice job Trent! That's my man!
Coming in at 1:59, Liline, Miranda, and Don finished all together!
Liline went back to meet up with Debbie who finished in 2:20. Good job Deb!
Good job! Woo hoo!
Yeah its over!
The crew! Miranda, Don, Liline, Debbie, Me, & Trent.
That's right! We're biting our medals!
Rigby didn't want to be left out!
