Bear Lake Moss Family Vacation July 10 -17, 2010

What a fun week! My family decided to drive up to Kaysville on Friday the 9th and stayed with some friends, the Hydes, who live there, so we would be up & ready for Lagoon the next morning!

The Hydes were super great! Spence even made us a delicious breakfast of crepes with raspberries & whipping cream! They have a season pass to Lagoon so they were on board for playing! Spence brought Noah & Olivia in the morning for Lagoon A Beach & then they came back with Keri that afternoon.

So Lagoon A Beach first...

and the rides all the rest of the day!
After Lagoon we drove the rest of the way up to Bear Lake or Garden City to be more specific! We ended up getting there at 2 am! After we missed the turn in Logan & drove an extra 45 minutes!

Sunday we went to church & it was packed! Apparently the get so full during summer with visitors that its standing room only! They asked for help with the sacrament & with their choir performance & got a big turnout! It was really neat. The speakers were Bro & Sis Moss!

That night we had FHE. We sang some primary songs & then Grandma read a story. We had a chocolate fountain with fixings for dessert.

So here are the activities we did during the week. We hiked up to Alpine Lakes & they were beautiful! There was snow still touching the lake! There also was a huge tree with a rope swing that Davey tested out & got a huge response from a girls camp who happened to be there! (He later met up with one of the girls! She left a note on the car for him with her number!) After the hike we ate lunch at the Bear Cave.

After lunch we went up to Minnetonka Cave. While waiting for our turn to hike, the kids feed the chipmunks sunflower seeds right out of their hands! We got to see a lot of formations & even the staircase to heaven! There was a lot of stairs in that cave!
That night we played a little Rock Band. Rigby & Olivia really enjoyed drumming!

We of course had to go to the lake! But first we picniced at the park & played some four square & did some swinging. We also played kickball & Rigby did his first dive into 1st base! Ok, so maybe he "fell" into 1st base but it was still awesome!
Then we walked down the boardwalk to the beach. We swam, found seashells, & fed the seagulls.
That night was Davey's Eagle Court of Honor. Dave did a really good job!
One of the days we drove down to Logan & went to the temple. It is a beautiful temple! Very castle like!

After the temple we did a tour of the Bluebird Chocolate Company. It was neat to see how it was all made - it was even made by hand! Then we went bowling! We always seem to go bowling on our vacations! Rigby even bowled a strike!
We then ate lunch at Great Harvest & headed out to Willow Park & Zoo. That was fun. They didn't have a lot of animals but it was only $1 honor system admission! They had coyotes that were napping so we all started howling to them & it worked! They stood up & started howling back & barking at each other! It got really loud & then about 20 people showed up to see what was going on! We also saw some turtles duke it out! It was fun.

We had some fun activities at the condos too. Judy's family prepared some Olympic Games & Jeff's family did some Minute To Win It games. It was really funny to see all things we had to do!
Along with all the fun activities, we also did our share of swimming! Which was great because thanks to swim lessons, the kids were right in there swimming!
One of the nights all the adults got to go to dinner & a show. The dinner was yummy & the show was actually quite good! I think it was called Crazy Over You. After that we all went back for cake to celebrate the twins birthday (Trent's twin brothers just older than him who died as infants). I love the picture of Mom & Dad with the cake!
We also took the opportunity to take a complete family picture down by the lake since we were all there together. Dave took the good pictures & we are waiting for those but we did take some pictures with our camera & they turned out pretty good!
The last day before leaving we did a pinata. It was a pirate boat to go with the theme that we had for the last night there. We had to wait to do it the next day because it got to late, past the 10 o'clock curfew! So the night before it was our turn to cook & we made shredded pork tacos & then the kids did a scavenger hunt for some pirate booty in the treasure chest!

We were actually gone for 9 days & it went by way too fast! Guess that says just how much fun we had!!

Swimming Lessons!

This summer I finally signed my kids up for swimming lessons. Rigby & Olivia always hated getting their faces wet, especially their eyes, & hated to be splashed! They would always just hang out at the edge of the pool & not swim.
So first day of swim lessons, you would of thought that they were being tortured! I guess for them, they were being tortured! The bloody murder screams that were coming out of them were heard by the whole city! Olivia would not quit screaming & would not let go of her teacher so her teacher just dunked her under the water! That sure got her attention!
Day 2 Olivia stilled cried pretty much the whole time! Rigby cried a few times but was brave!

Day 3 Rigby was hiding so he wouldn't have to go!
Can you see him?
Olivia had made her own plan to take too long getting ready to make us late, then to just sit in the car & not get out but when I would make her get out then she would swim once & get right back into the car. There were a few more parts to her plan but I can't remember them. It was pretty funny!
Once we got there, they didn't cry. By the end of week one they were both having fun!
They learned the back float & can do it by themselves now!
And they learned to "swim"!

My Olivia is a swimmer now!
Lainee has always liked the water & had taught herself to swim but we put her in lessons to learn the right way to swim.
She took right to swimming, which I think helped her little sister & brother to be more brave!
Good job kids!

Happy 4th of July

We started off the day (Saturday the 3rd) with breakfast at IHOP & then went swimming at the city pool. The kids have been swimming so much better since they started swim lessons! Olivia & Rigby actually get in the water & play! They even go under the water! And Lainee is becoming a real good swimmer!

Rigby got cold & decided that Dad's back was a good place to warm up!

That evening we got ready & headed over to Grandma & Grandpa Moss's house for a bbq with the Lee's & Dave's families. They kids looked so festive!
After dinner & games, we headed out to watch the fireworks. We ended up at our usual spot on Foremaster Hill. The kids watched the fireworks from on top of the Durango through the moon roof & they loved it! They thought it was the coolest! (but we are the coolest parents so that goes without saying!)
For Sunday, the actual 4th of July, they got all decked out again & we went back over to Grandma's house.

Then on Monday, the 5th, the actual "holiday" day from work, we played volleyball with the crew, went to luch for Jarom's birthday at Chuckarama, Trent golfed, & we ended the fun weekend with hanging with the Staheli's. Fun times!
