St. George Marathon 10/3/09

Trent decided to run the marathon after all!

After he hurt his IT Band he was not planning on running, but a few days before the race, Robbie called & wanted Trent to run with him. I knew Trent still wanted to run it after all the work he had put into it so convincing him to run wasn't hard.

He stayed with Kyle Hafen & Robbie at Mtn Meadows Friday night & they drove down to the starting line. A few hours later, Teri sent me a picture message of Trent passing the Snow Canyon turn off. (the small pictures were taken by cell phones)

I was so glad to get this picture to know he was ok! He hadn't trained since the half marathon in July!

We were waiting for him near the finish in front of Uncle Mike's house.

When he saw us he came over and squatted down. I said "Get up & run! You are at the finish!" He said "I can't!!" He had started cramping up for the last 9 miles! So he had to keep stopping to stretch every tenth of a mile!

He then stopped to visit with his parents.

Lainee & Traton decided to run with him for a minute.

I am so proud that he finished! Oh yeah! His time was 4 hrs 38 minutes.
Good job Trent!

Way to go Trent! That is awesome that you endured to the end...I have had races where my legs cramped like that & they suck!! But hopefully it didn't leave too bad of taste in your mouth & you'll do it again. Ryan finally was moved enough at the finish line to say that he wanted to do it next year...yeah we'll see!!!

Nice Job Trent. So you can fill in for Jake this weekend for the Vegas Ragnar? He has been sick throwing up the past few days. He is feeling better today though. That is exciting that Lainee is getting baptized on Saturday. We are going to be in Vegas and going through St. George but probably at the wrong time. It would be fun to see though.
